Likkle Addi, mom give statements to INDECOM

Tanesha 'Shorty' Johnson, the long-time former partner of dancehall star Vybz Kartel, and son Akheel 'Likkle Addi' Palmer have given statements to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) relating to an alleged police assault.

THE STAR understands that an official report was made yesterday afternoon at the agency's Corporate Area office. The news team also understands that a probe is to commence shortly into reported abuse by members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force towards the family. This follows the release of footage on the weekend with a team of police officers inside what is believed to be Johnson's Corporate Area home.

A similar incident reportedly unfolded earlier this year, days after Likkle Addi went live on Instagram detailing how a private security guard allegedly overstepped his boundaries. Likkle Addi is a dancehall artiste and along with his older brother Likkle Vybz, forms the group UTG (Uptown Gaza/Greatness).

The duo and their mother are no strangers to run-ins with the police. In April, the St Ann police reportedly searched their home in that parish. This incident was also captured on camera. In the most recent run-in, a group of officers appear to be inside Johnson's living room with a warrant. However, based on dialogue that can be heard in the video, it is alleged that the police have the correct house, but the wrong address is listed. Johnson and her family took the police to task over the wrong address.

"Dem have wrong address on the warrant and want torment people! This is what they are doing," the person behind the video can be heard saying. There is also another video of the incident which shows a scuffle involving Johnson, the police and Likkle Addi.

The young deejay is heard saying, "No unuh nah get my phone. Fi wah?" Members of the police team could be heard telling the family to calm down. Johnson is also heard shouting, "Murder... murder." It appears that the police, who were also recording the happenings inside the home, eventually searched the premises. It is not clear if anything relating to the search was found at the location.

THE STAR understands the police suspect that lottery scamming activities were taking place at the home. Johnson is, however, heard disputing that allegation citing that only persons who live at the location stay there and that the police should know her sons are entertainers.

Calls to INDECOM for an update on the matter yesterday proved futile. Our news team was also unsuccessful in reaching the head of the St Andrew North Police Division, Superintendent Tameka Service, to speak on the matter.
