Kimeco taking career to higher level
Under the guidance of Sizzla's long-time producer, Breadback, up-and-coming artiste Kimeco says she has flourished. From being relatively unknown to growing a fan base she believes can take her to the next level, the singer-songwriter is ready to claim her spot in Jamaica's music industry.
"Since the release of my debut album, Unknown Queen, I've been going places, and I can't complain," she said. "I've been making the rounds at different live shows across Jamaica, just slowly building my fan base. My album was well received by the public and that showed at some of the events I performed at. The reception has been amazing. Giving people who can relate to songs like Profile, Jealousy, Live and 90's Swing a chance to hear it live, has been a blessing."
The entertainer said that while she is yet to reach a level where she could be considered a 'household name', her popularity is growing.
"I'll soon be heading to Canada, America and Europe, and my team is currently negotiating with Rebel Salute and a few other promoters to get me on stages where I can be seen and heard on a larger scale," she revealed.
Kimeco said she has been booked for the highly anticipated Sharkies Seafood Festival in St Ann, which is scheduled for Heroes Monday on October 16. She said that the show will be a catalyst for greater things to come.
"My plans for the Sharkies show is to dominate. People can expect a 'one love vibration' from me. This will be my first time on the show and my first time working with the established Ruff Kut Band, so I'm honoured to work with these legends, and I'm looking forward to making the best of this opportunity."
Highlighting how challenging it has been trying to make her mark on the local music scene, Kimeco said that working with Breadback has been a blessing, as his guidance and support have made a huge difference.
"Working with Breadback is like working with a big brother. Ever since I met him, he has always been looking out for my best interest. Having his support and guidance really means a lot. His time and effort are appreciated," she said.
