Singer and songwriter Naomi Cowan treated fans to eye-catching visuals for the music video of her single ' Champion Bubblah' earlier this month.

The video, which was shot at Gold Bar, Cockburn Pen, St Andrew, brings a '90s vibe and features an all-female DJ cast. The video fits the song perfectly, bringing across the inspiration of song.

"The word I would use to describe Champion Bubblah is 'woman', straight! I wrote that song for myself, but I also wrote it for every woman right now who might be frustrated when they're going to the dances, and they go to parties and clubs and they're not hearing music for them," Cowan told THE WEEKEND STAR.

The artiste revealed that she wrote the song during the pandemic, but felt the timing was not ideal. However, earlier this year she worked with record producer Toddla T to rejuvenate the production, leading to the song's release on August 18.

When it comes to inspiration, Cowan said that her music is influenced by the world around her. She analyses how it is true to her and how it might inspire others, referencing her song StarLight, which was put out as a double release with Champion Bubblah. Cowan shared that she has a personal connection with StarLight, describing it as the subtler version of the songs. She explained that it is more in tune to her vibe, but both songs bring the message of women empowerment.

Collaborating with renowned figures in the industry, Cowan highlighted her encounters with music producers who have greatly contributed to her musical development, such as Winta James, Toddla T, Walshy Fire, The Wizard, and actor Idris Elba. All of them have pushed her out of her comfort zone.

"Working with them has always been a pleasure because I feel supported, and then on top of that I feel challenged, but in a good way," she said. She hinted that she has an upcoming album with Toddla T.

Drawing from her own experiences, Cowan offered advice to aspiring musicians who may feel self-conscious.

"The greatest piece of advice is to work on your love of you as a person, and then of what you do. So, if you're a singer and you do R&B, love your music first. Make sure you are in love with your voice and what you write, so no matter what comes your way you are not shaken," she said.

Cowan is set to perform both singles at the annual Welcome to Jamrock Reggae Cruise in December.
