Gregory Park turmoil inspires Ghandi’s new single
Dancehall artiste Ghandi, formerly known as Ras Ghandi, is in an optimistic mood about the release of his single Mercy.
The song was produced by Kerror Records on the 'Revelation' rhythm.
"It has a positive message that I know will resonate with all the people living in violence-plagued and war-torn places all over the world. Right now, the crime situation in Jamaica has got out of control, and it seems as if the powers that be cannot manage it. Therefore, we have to call on God for divine intervention," said the artiste.
The deejay said he wrote the song after hearing about the recent flare-up of violence in Gregory Park, Portmore, St Catherine, which resulted in several persons ending up homeless after their residences were firebombed.
"That's the community where I am from, and it pains my heart to see what happened there recently. I sincerely hope that the people living in the community will unite and live together in love and harmony," said Ghandi.
The artiste is advising up-and-coming artistes to make music that will have an impact on the minds of the people.
"Music is an art that connects with the heart. The utterance from the mouth is very powerful. So, be careful of what you let out in the universe, because to every action there is a reaction," he said.
He is looking forward to performing in Jamaica later this year. Also on the cards for him is another single, titled LifeStyle, which was recorded with Bugle on the House A Vybz Muzik label.
