Kapri 100Mill rolling with ‘Ocean’
Dancehall artiste Kapri 100Mill is pleased with the response to his latest single, Ocean.
"So far, the reaction from the data impressions has been impressive. A lot of sounds from Japan and Germany have been sending me DMs [direct messages] to do dubs and an intro for that song. So it's a good look so far. And I feel great because each song I've been dropping seems like a level up," Kapri 100Mill said.
Glitzy visuals were released for the single two months ago, racking up more than one million views. He is getting a huge response in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he performed on two major two events in the summer. Kapri 100Mill is putting the finishing touches on an EP which will be released soon.
"The EP that I've been working on is called N&N Nostalgia & Now. That will have songs that sound like Ocean [which give] that 'now' feel and songs that sound like Raise Yuh Glass 90s style and flow," he said.
The deejay, whose given name is Dwayne Wallace, grew up in Jamaica and attended both the Pembroke Hall Primary and High schools. He got his break in 2008 when he released the single Dear Mama on the 'Creeper' rhythm. In 2008, he also won a 'Battle Thursdays' contest, walking away as the winner two consecutive times.
Kapri 100Mill performed in Jamaica last weekend at an event in Portland. He is booked to perform at upcoming events in November, including in Windsor, Canada, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
