Tired of the soul-sucking daily grind of the nine-to-five lifestyle, music video director and graphic design artist Rodrick Blair left his corporate job in 2020 to set up his own business in the creative sector.

Joining forces with his cousin Sheldon Edwards of Pandemic Records, he launched a multimedia company called RGM Productions the same year. Blair describes the company, which is based in James Hill, Clarendon, as a one-stop shop for people in the music industry.

"We offer a variety of professional services that are in high demand in the music business, such as music video production, graphic designing, social media marketing and Google ad placements. We also produce commercials and provide video-editing services," he said. Blair said he created RGM Productions because he saw a need for this company in central Jamaica.

"I've always been involved with music from as far back as I can remember. When I was younger, I was a DJ and a songwriter. Eventually, I learned graphic design and began doing cover art designs for artistes and producers. As a result of that, people were always asking me about music videos and social media marketing. So, I figured I might as well set up a company that provides all of these services," he said.

Although the company is only three years old, it has already begun to make a name in the music industry.

"Since the company was launched, we've produced music videos for several artistes, including Turbulence, Little Hero, Jeff Fullyauto, Jah Lama, Jeniel Henningham and Frass Khalifa. We've also done cover art designs for artistes such as Capleton, Sizzla, Kronik Law and Munga Honorable. I am confident that RGM has a bright future ahead."

Blair, who hails from James Hill, is a past student of Edwin Allen High School.
