Goodnezz healing through music
Although he and his family are still coping with the tragic death of his son, Donald Leroy 'Smokey' Marson - who was shot and killed in Toronto in 2021 - recording artiste Goodnezz is determined to keep moving forward with his music career.
"I am not doing music for fame or fortune. You can ask anyone who knows me, and they will tell you that I have been singing for years. I even went to music school, but I never really took it up professionally until Smokey died. He's the inspiration behind my music career. My son is the reason I am singing. The songs that I am singing right now were inspired by him, and I want to use these songs to help make the world a better place. This is my therapy," said the artiste.
The Toronto-based reggae singer, who originally hails from Portland, is currently promoting his single titled Everyday. The video for the song was released on November 24.
"I wrote this song to tell youths all over the world to stay away from violence and live a progressive lifestyle. Since we began promoting it, it has garnered a lot of support from DJs in various parts of the world, including Canada, Jamaica, Africa, Europe, the US, and the UK. We need to make this world a better place, so I'm just playing my part. I am just a messenger," he said.
Goodnezz is gearing up to release a new single titled Are You Ready Now, which was co-produced by Grammy Award-winning engineer Nigel Burrell and Carl Otway.
"It also has a positive message that I am sure will resonate with people all over the world," he said. He also revealed that he plans to stage a big charity concert in Jamaica next year.
"My team is working on this project right now and as soon as everything is finalised, we are going to make an announcement," he said.
