Gospel singer Rian Davis expecting first child
Gospel artiste Rian Davis has announced that he and his wife, Adelle, are expecting their first child.
Davis, who is known for songs such as Captain of the Ship and Mighty God, said the child will be called Genesis.
"I think Genesis is the beginning of new things, it's the beginning of everything that is good as what relates to the Bible. And then me just like how it sound," Davis said.
Interestingly, Davis was among the headliners at the 38th annual staging of Genesis Praise Fest on the grounds of the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre on Hope Road in St Andrew on New Year's Day. The Mad Ova Mi Gospel singer emphasised his love for the "beautiful" Genesis festival. As he prepares to embark on his new journey as a father, Davis said he is happy to add to the legacy that Genesis, the event, has created. He said that his approach to producing music has been to engage young people, and it is a task he takes seriously.
"I always have in the back of my mind that what I want to do with my ministry is create that option for the young people, so they know that [if] you want something nice fi listen to, it doesn't have to be that weh a guh bruk yuh out. So, me now becoming a father is only gonna strengthen that more, because I want my child to grow up in an environment that is surrounded with joyful things," Davis said.
He added: "We sing about God, and anuh nothing if we sing about a likkle dance move now and then fi lively up we self. But the whole heap a killing and the violence? No. So it [being a father] definitely will impact me more fi know seh me settle in more and deal with that," he added.
Davis said that 2024 is going to be an exciting year for him because he will drop his debut album, which will be titled Tested to Testify.
"You know, we tested through trial, so God just a test we fi ensure seh we have a testimony at the end of the day," he said.
