AceGawd drops new single
Dancehall artiste AceGawd has teamed up with Cornelius Records for his latest single, Up Gee.
According to the entertainer, the track is already creating a scene in the dancehall space.
"Every selector have it on dem playlist, because the youth dem want music to make dem dance and fi motivate dem. The bus dem a play it, so the school youth dem a catch on to it as well. We have a clean version fi dem and honestly, everybody just a rock to the beat," he said.
Released on Cornelius' 'Moroccan' rhythm, AceGawd said Up Gee touches on a range of topics, including money, girls and family.
"Yuh see dah song here, it is a money song, gal song and even a dancing track, because it has a lot of melody. You can't stay one place once you a listen to it. It's encouraging both men and women to work hard and make money so you can maintain you children and family. A one a dem motivational song deh, and it already on the road of becoming a hit," he said.
"It also mentions that fact say mi have a lot of haters and bad-mind people, so mi make sure mi secure mi life by wearing mi guard ring, while keeping the Almighty close," he added.
AceGawd, given name Sadeki McLarthy, got his breakthrough hit in late 2018, via the single Mark X & Axio. He later released a number of other tracks, such as Sad Truth, Knocka and Paint Me.
The Porus High School graduate was raised in Mandeville, Manchester, by his parents and is the youngest of three siblings. He has a discoloured eye because of a detached retina which resulted from a car accident in 2014. He said that incident encouraged him to pursue his dream. He started recording in 2017 and fuses the trap, dancehall and reggae genres.
