EvaRed releases first reggae track, ‘No Capping’
Ethiopia-based recording artiste EvaRed is making a name for himself with the release of his first reggae track, No Capping.
Visiting Jamaica for the first time, he said that the response has been good.
"This is also because we made an amazing music video for the song, and the standard of music videos in Ethiopia is not so high, so it has stood out. When it comes to reggae music, there's not a lot of English because there aren't a lot of English speakers in Ethiopia. It has been nice for the audience to hear real reggae," said the singer, whose given name is Pascal Damir Kovarbasic.
EvaRed began his musical journey in 2009 as a DJ in Europe, captivating international audiences from Germany to Norway, and then all the way to Ethiopia and Kenya. He played for various sound systems, including Caplock-Sound and Buschwerk Bounce, and participated in studio sessions with prominent artistes such as Ky-Mani Marley and Anthony B. His transition from disc jokey and producer to recording artiste was driven by a desire to create deeper, more personal music. This ambition was realised with the release of his debut EP, Queen of Sheba, in 2022. He is currently in Jamaica to form deeper connections, while working on two other reggae tracks to add to his catalogue.
