Miss Lauryn Hill delivers outstanding performance at Reggae Sumfest
Patrons at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre in St James were left wanting for nothing, after international singer/rapper, Lauryn Hill, delivered a soul-touching performance at the 31st staging of Reggae Sumfest on Saturday morning.
The multi-Grammy Award winning entertainer joined the performances of her sons YG and Zion Marley, before captivating the audience with some of her own popular hits.
Ex-Factor , Ready or Not and Killing Me Softly are only a few of the fan-favourites she performed effortlessly while hundreds, if not thousands, sang the lyrics along with her.
Hill, who is known for her time in the hip-hop/rap trio the Fugees and for her widely acclaimed album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, even shared that one of her hit sings ( Killing me Softly) was written in Jamaica several years ago.
Hill closed out the set with her son YG's performance of his biggest hit yet, Praise Jah in the Moonlight , which samples his grandfather, reggae-icon Bob Marley for the intro, and an impromptu acapella performance of Turn Your Lights Down Low.
Reggae Sumfest 31 is expected to continue over the weekend with other internationally-recognised acts like Babyface to perfom on Sunday.
