Reggae artiste Iyunda wants to make a positive impact on the world with his music, which is why he only records songs that carry uplifting messages.

"I am here to teach people how to awaken their consciousness through words, sounds and power. I am here to heal and educate them with positive music," said the artiste, who is a Rastafarian. Iyunda is promoting his new single titled Recycle, which was produced by Letter i Dub Productions. It is currently enjoying heavy rotation.

"I recorded this song to alert the people to what's currently going on in the world, because the slave masters have removed the chains and shackles but we're still not free. They have trapped the people with their economic systems, rules and lies; it's a recycled form of slavery. This slavery might be more subtle and well disguised, but it's very brutal," he said.

The Kingston-born dub poet recently made another step up the musical ladder when he performed on Festival Night Two at Reggae Sumfest.

"Performing at Sumfest was an awesome experience. I received a warm reception. I am looking forward to performing at the festival again next year," he said. Iyunda is currently busy in the studio working on his debut album.

Iyunda, given name Courtney Robinson, is a past student of Norman Manley High School. He made his recording debut in 1997 with a single titled Love and Happiness on the Motive imprint.
