Mashah Yasharahla wants a spiritual awakening for JA

Recording artiste Mashah Yasharahla believes that the time has come for a spiritual awakening in Jamaica.

"The time has come to reawaken the consciousness of the Jamaican people and reunite them with the Most High. The people have gone astray and there's too much chaos and mayhem in our society today. We're tired of the senseless killing of women, men and children. We're tired of the mindlessness that's being displayed by our people in all strata of society," said Mashah Yasharahla. The Manchester-based singjay plans to bring about this awakening with a new musical genre which he calls 'Yashar Shamar' (Upright Guard).

"After taking an eight-year break from music to focus on my spiritual journey and my family, the Most High has given me this task. He has chosen me to use this special genre of music to teach and uplift the children of Israel (Yasharala) who have been scattered abroad. It is my duty to remind them who they are and show them how to serve our Creator Ahba/Father Yah," he said.

Mashah Yasharahla recently released his debut album titled Repent. The 28-track double album project features songs such as Chant Down Babylon, Woe, Plant Some Food, War and the lead single King David.

"Every song on this album was written and recorded to uplift and reconnect the people with Africa. We have strayed too far from our roots as a people, and we have to fix this problem if we are to survive in this western hemisphere. Yashar Shamar is here to save the people. Our people are hungry and thirsty for righteousness," he said.
