Damiedon calls out to ‘Yahweh’ on new single
While they embraced secular music in their teens, brothers Damion 'Damiedon' Hawthorne and Andre 'Dretegs' Hawthorne never forgot their Christian roots.
Damiedon, a singjay, gives praise on Yahweh, his latest song which is produced by Dretegs. Released in July, the song has been in the can for some time. Recently, the siblings put the finishing touches on the project that bears special meaning for Damiedon.
"We worked closely to create a sound that not only tells a story through its lyrics, but also embodies the weight and hope of its message. Yahweh marks a significant moment for me, as I finally shared a song that had been in my heart for years," he said. " Yahweh is about the unwavering presence of God in our lives, especially in times of struggle and doubt."
The siblings were born in Jamaica, but are long-time residents of the Bronx, where their family operates the successful Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery. Their parents, Leroy and Herma Hawthorne, are pastors at Bible Truth Church of God International in that New York City borough.
Next Morning, one of Damiedon's previous songs, was also produced by his brother. Last year, he collaborated with veteran deejay Flourgon and gospel artiste Brotha George on the single Cast The First Stone.
