MoBay honour Nigy Boy

Rising dancehall star Nigy Boy is set to be honoured by the St James Municipal Corporation for his global contribution to the music industry.

The Continent hitmaker will be given the Mayor's Award during a civic ceremony at the Sam Sharpe Square in Montego Bay on Monday, which is National Heroes Day.

"This award represents a king being honoured in his own country," mayor of Montego Bay, Richard Vernon, said. "Nigy Boy is someone who works hard on his craft as an entertainer. He has successfully balanced a busy performance/recording schedule with his academic pursuits, while at the same time being a torch bearer for reggae and dancehall, taking the genre around the world," the mayor added.

Nigy Boy, who lost his sight at six months old, hails from Montego Bay. In July, he was honoured for his contribution to entertainment by the St James Municipal Corporation at Reggae Sumfest. He shot to stardom following the release of his single, Continent, on Rvssian's 'Dutty Money' riddim last year. In addition to Continent, he has released hit singles such as Karma, Judgement and Goodness of God. He is excited about being hnoured by the St James Municipal Corporation.

"I'm extremely humbled and feel a sense of great joy to know that I am being honoured by the mayor of the city I was born in. I attribute my success to God, my team, producers who have recognised my talent, as well as to the unwavering support of fans, family, and friends," he said.
