Ammo found in shoe, man gets bail

A man accused of being caught with four rounds of ammunition inside a shoe at his home was granted bail in the sum of $250,000 with a

surety when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court recently.

He is Keible Byrd, otherwise called Lando, 43, a barber from Sydenham Housing Scheme in St Catherine. When Byrd appeared before Resident Magistrate Anmarie Nembhard, he pleaded not guilty. Attorney-at-law Everton Dewar made a successful bail application on Byrd's behalf. The Crown did not oppose bail for the accused.

Allegations are that on August 10, 2015, about 8:30 a.m., members of the St Catherine North Proactive Investigation Unit carried out an operation at Byrd's premises. During a search a pair of

sneakers were checked and four rounds of .357mm ammunition were discovered.

He was subsequently charged with illegal possession of ammunition. He is to return to court on February 26, 2016.
