JUTC drivers on fraud charge

October 23, 2015

Three drivers employed to the Jamaica Urban Transit Company had their bail extended when they appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Charged with obtaining money by false pretence are Roger Jones, Adreion Taylor, and Linford Maitland.

Reports are that between September and October 2015, the drivers used Smarter Cards instead of their assigned driver card to collect adult fares on the buses they operated.

Official reports are that the drivers then pocketed $2,500 each.

The matter was reported to Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA).

Taylor and Maitland were arrested and charged on October 7, while Jones was arrested and charged on October 13.

The matter returns to court on November 11.
