Businessman kills would-be robber in Clarendon
A 24-year-old would-be robber was shot and killed in May Pen, Clarendon, yesterday, and a 9 mm handgun was also handed over to the police after the incident.
According to a police report, a businessman was in the Chapelton Road area of May Pen just after 4 p.m. yesterday conducting business, when two men armed with guns pounced on him. A gunfight ensued and one of the gunmen was fatally shot and the firearm seized.
"We are still carrying out our investigations, but, so far, we know that a robbery was in progress here on Chapelton Road when the licensed firearm holder fatally shot one of the robbers.

His (robber) accomplice escaped and a firearm was seized," Senior Superintendent of Police, Fitz Bailey, told THE STAR.
The mother of the deceased man, who identified him as Roshane 'Mikey' Blake, lamented that she did all she could to keep her son out of trouble, however, the 24-year-old was hell bent on running afoul of the law.
"This is what he wants ... to rob and kill people, but you see what happened to him now," the distraught woman said.
"I buy him a car, I opened a cookshop give him, anything him want I try to give him just, so that he wouldn't get into trouble."
