Money dispute puts man behind bars

A man was dragged to court after he used a car door to squeeze the legs of the complainant during a dispute over 'partner' money.

On Monday when the matter was called up in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court, the accused, Fitzroy Bell, pleaded guilty, with explanation.

According to Bell, it was the complainant who had first pushed the door on him when he went to her for his money.

He said, "Your Honour, a man was seated in the car and I ask her for my money.

"She said 'Which money?', and say mi must come out her yard."

The female complainant, however, refuted those claims.

She said, "Your Honour, the car door was already opened, and he slammed it on my legs. I don't owe him any partner money."

Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey asked Bell, "Why shouldn't you go to GP for this?

"I am not going, Your Honour," said Bell.

RM Pusey then told Bell to stay with her until Monday for sentencing.

He was remanded and a fingerprint order made.
