Patron stops bar robbery
Though he is now nursing head injuries at the hospital, a businessman is being hailed as a community hero after he stopped an armed robbery at an upscale lounge in Stony Hill, St Andrew, on Thursday.
The police say about 10:30 p.m. two masked men entered an establishment on Fort George Crescent and demanded money. They managed to take $10,000, but their robbery came to an abrupt end when a businessman, who was a patron at the venue, intervened.
A University of Technology professor who witnessed what transpired said the businessman grabbed a stool and attacked one of the thugs, shouting, "Not a b........t!" The armed thug then sought assistance from his accomplice, but he was nowhere to be found.
The lone thug then gunbutted the businessman in his head and made a hasty escape.
The Stony Hill police were summoned to the scene, and the injured man taken to hospital.
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Investigations continue.
