PCJ gives water tanks to Kingston High

Students and staff at the Kingston High School (KHS) now have a reliable water supply source thanks to the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ), who recently donated three 1000-gallon water tanks to the school at a cost of J$100,000.

The tanks, which have been installed at the school, are supplying water to the restrooms, canteen and the Home Economics Department, allowing staff and students to have access to piped water during frequent low-pressure periods.

School Principal Davion Johnson explained that prior to the PCJ's intervention, the school's operations were often hampered by a shortage of water supply, especially during the January to March period.

"The board of management of Kingston High School, our staff and students are, indeed, grateful to the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica for contributing three water tanks to the school," Johnson said at a brief handing over ceremony held recently at the school, which is located in downtown Kingston.

"This well-needed contribution will definitely enhance the quality of service we provide to our students, especially those in the Home Economics Department," he added.

While also addressing students present for the handing over, Camille Taylor, manager, information and corporate affairs at the PCJ said: "The PCJ is always happy to provide assistance to educational institutions and support the development of our country's children. We hope that the current students will take care of the tanks so that they will be of benefit to the students here now and those to come".

The donation to Kingston High School continues the PCJ's support for educational and youth development initiatives, which are key areas of focus under its Corporate Social Responsibility Programme. Just last month, the company awarded more than $2 million in cash and prizes to students who were winners in its Schools Energy Programme competitions.
