Agriculture is the answer, says Samuda
Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Karl Samuda, said agriculture is the answer to Jamaica’s economic problem.
“We are entering a new paradigm in this country between the business community and the farming community,” Samuda said, while on a tour of the New Forest/Duff House Agro-Park in Manchester last week.
Link with business sector
The minister encouraged the farmers to begin to link with the business sector to produce value-added products.
Samuda also challenged the business community to invest in agriculture and pointed out linkages with the tourism sector would lead to increased production among farmers and increased earnings.
"I see a marriage that is going to assist rapid development in the farming community and the tourism sector,” Samuda said.
