Police, soldiers hunt for escapee
Up to late last night, the St Mary police and a team from the Jamaica Defence Force were on a massive manhunt for an accused murderer, who escaped from hospital while under police guard yesterday afternoon.
The escapee, Dwight Henry, 25, of Wentworth, St Mary, reportedly complained of having a medical condition and was taken to the Port Maria Hospital where he made his escape, Deputy Superintendent of Police Dwight Powell told THE STAR.
American missionaries
Henry is one of two men charged with the murder of two American missionaries Randy Hentzel, 40, and Harold Nichols, 53, who were found dead in Albion Mountain, St Mary, last April. The other accused, Andre Thomas, remains in custody.
Powell was tight-lipped on the details of how the inmate managed to escape. But when asked if he is considered dangerous, he said, "Not at this point, but we're not ruling anything out."
