Woman beaten, tied up in home invasion

Investigators are questioning two men who were captured on surveillance camera beating a woman in her home and tying her up, before making off with more than $2 million worth of stolen goods.

Information reaching THE STAR is that two men are now in custody as the police continue their active investigation in the matter, which has left a family extremely shaken.

According to reports two men entered the Hermitage Dam Road residence in Stony Hill, while a lone female occupant was doing laundry.

A relative told THE STAR, "The wife was alone at home. She went out to hang up the clothes and left the grille open because she was going in and out. Two guys rushed in on her, beat her up and tied her up. They then ransacked the house."

Closed-circuit television

Our news team was told that the act was captured on closed circuit television, which has since been handed over to the Communication Forensic and Cyber crime Unit.

THE STAR also understands that the victims' husband is attached to a local university.

The police confirmed that a report was made and since then their investigation has taken shape.

An investigator told our news team the police have extracted the footage and "We have held two men for questioning so far. No gun was involved. She was assaulted and tied up. No one has been charged as yet."

THE STAR was told that more than $2 million in household articles, appliances, jewellery and national awards were stolen.

Residents have reported several break-ins and robberies plaguing communities in and around the Stony Hill area.

They are calling on the police to grab hold of the criminality so the neighbourhood can be safe for everyone.

The Stony Hill police are investigating this latest incident.
