A man who pleaded guilty on a charge of simple larceny when he appeared before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court last Friday told the judge that he steals out of habit.

"I dweet all the while, it is a regular habit," Jason Edwards told Judge Lester Crooks, who quizzed him for a reason why he shoplifted, among other things, 12 packs of Lasco porridge mixes, nine packs of Ramen noodles, and a Protex soap bar from the Cross Roads branch of the Hi-Lo supermarket.

Edwards was returning to court after he had been ordered to be placed at the Horizon Adult Remand Centre until a psychiatric evaluation was done after he pleaded with the judge to send him to prison when the matter was first mentioned on September 15.

He was remanded in custody until November 21, when he is to return for sentencing.
