They did not deserve this - Killer's family mourns death of mother, daughter
The family of Fabian Lyewsang say they are saddened by the tragic incident and mourn for Deon Smith and her daughter, Jayshenel Gordon, who were killed by their relative.
Miguel*, Lyewsang's older brother, told our news team that they tried to reach out to Smith's family since the incident.
"Bwoy, we a try reach out to them, enuh, but we nuh really know dem. We really sorry bout all a dem something ya, sorry say it reach deh so. We really wish we could turn back the hands of time. Da lady deh nuh deserve this, nor her daughter. You see Deon, she is a nice person, she nuh deserve that. Deon is a nice lady, she treat his son like a fi her son," Miguel said.
He said that the entire incident came as a shock because Smith treated his brother well during their relationship of about six years.
"Deon treat him (Lyewsang) so good. A weh day she buy him a car for his birthday," he told THE STAR, staunchly refuting claims of jealousy.
A LOT OF MOURNING
He also said that he wants persons to desist from tarnishing the deceased woman's name by saying that she was unfaithful.
Reflecting on the incident, Miguel said that Lyewsang purposely did not call before the murder suicide because his brother knew that he would have been able to talk him out of his plans.
Another friend, who knew the family, told our news team Lyewsang did a selfish act.
"We have a lot of mourning, but we all upset at what he did. I mean, if we coulda catch him, we woulda beat him ourselves, tie him up and take him in to the police. This family don't back illegal things or wrongdoing."
"This is not him, him just always a laugh. They must have had some argument and he snapped. It was a very selfish act on his part. He decided to be a coward and cut before we get to him. Deon was a part of us. She was like a sister."
