Gangster's 16-year-old son held after rifle seizure

The 16-year-old son of a Corporate Area gang leader is in custody after the police found an AK-47 rifle at a home in Land Lease, Papine, on Monday.

Information reaching THE STAR is that the high-powered rifle fitted with a magazine containing twenty-seven 5.56mm cartridges was found at a shop in the community.

The police told THE STAR that the boy, who is a student, is being held in relation to the seizure.

THE STAR understands that the matter has been reported to the  investigators from The Independent Commission of Investigations, who have since launched an investigation.
