Up to press time last night several persons were still being treated for various injuries they sustained in a two-vehicle collision on Spanish Town Road, Kingston, in the vicinity of the IGL Blue.

One woman, who eyewitnesses say was flung from the bus, was undergoing emergency surgery to save her life.

Reports from the police are that about 5 p.m., a public passenger Coaster bus collided with a Toyota Hilux pickup truck, resulting in injuries to occupants of both vehicles.

A police officer at the scene said: "Six persons were rushed to hospital for various injuries. They were alive when they left the accident scene."

THE STAR was told that some of the injured persons were taken to the Spanish Town Hospital.

When our news team arrived on the scene, debris from the crash and broken tiles, which were being transported by the pickup truck, littered the roadway.

The conductor of the bus was also on the scene complaining of head pains.

His only comment to our news team was, "Mi can't talk now, mi inna pain and a try secure the money."

Soon after, he was whisked away in a car and taken to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH).

The crash also caused traffic pile-up on the already strained Spanish Town Road corridor.

The Hunts Bay traffic unit is investigating.
