Several individuals who travel along Bossue Lane in south Manchester are quite displeased with the condition that the road is currently in.

This road is mainly traversed by vendors and persons in and around the area, as it is seen as a shorter route to travel to May Pen and Kingston.

Drivers and passengers, however, have to contend with miles of potholes and a road that needs resurfacing in some areas.

The condition has worsened due to the heavy rains experienced recently.

Clive Gordon, a farmer and businessman, travels along the main road almost every day and he has been doing so for about 15 years.

"Boy, the road terrible right now. Terrible, terrible. It needs a lot of fixing," he said.

Gordon recalls several occasions when his vehicle had been damaged due to the condition of the road.

"It tear up mi tyre them all the time and the front end. Sometimes all $7,000 it cost me (to get it fixed)," he said.

GETTING WORSE

A truck driver who has been transporting vendors along that route for almost 20 years said, "Well, the road really bad, mi nah tell you no lie.

"The road from down Bossue Lane guh right through, when the heavy rain did fall (some time last year) and it did mash up, them did come through and throw some marl on it and leave it. It's getting worse now," he said.

He said that everyone complains about the condition of the road. He, however, continues to travel that route as he has passengers who live in neighbouring communities.

His Isuzu truck has been damaged on numerous occasions.

"When mi break a front spring, a $35,000 mi pay fi the entire spring," he said.
