Persons being questioned in relation to missing man

The Kingston East police have confirmed that persons are in custody following the discovery of a body believed to be that of Jean-Pierre Rhone of Stillwell, St Andrew.

The 27-year-old was reported missing on October 17, and his body was found on October 20, in an unfinished building at Port Rocky in Port Royal, Kingston.

Superintendent Victor Hamilton, head of the Kingston East Police Division, said that they are working assiduously to ensure that the killers are brought to justice.

"We are at a delicate stage in the investigation. They are going forward, and we think that we will be in a position shortly to charge someone. We are confident that charges will be made soon," he said.

According to the police's Corporate Communications Unit, at about 12:30 p.m. on October 20, residents stumbled upon the body and summoned the police. The body was wrapped in a sheet.

The police are awaiting a post-mortem report to confirm if the body is indeed that of Rhone. But according to information received from CCU, the body fits the description of Rhone.

"We are questioning some persons so DNA testing is just for confirmation," he said.
