The St Clare's Basic school has been the go-to institution for children in Windsor Heights, St Catherine, for many years. Established in 1979, the school has been giving students a bright start, putting them on the path to being good citizens.

Principal Marie Howe, who has been in the post since 2006, said the school is seeking the public's help in making the environment better for the children.

"At this time, we would like another classroom because we only have three. We have the land space for it but the lack the necessary resources to construct another one," she said.

She told THE WEEKEND STAR that the school is also short on fans.

"We don't have enough fans to supply each classroom, and so, the children are always hot. Presently, we have 74 children at the school," she said.

Howe said that the school needs additional bathroom facilities.

"There are two boys' and girls' bathrooms and one for the disabled, but because we don't have any disabled children at the moment, we (the teachers) use it," she said.

Persons who are willing to help St Clare's Basic School can call the principal, Marie Howe, at 876-891-7460 or teacher Pastress Campbell at 876-368-5813.
