A teen is now fearing for his life, following the death of his relative at the hands of angry residents, and the failed attempt by the residents to capture another member of the family.

The drama erupted in Sterling Castle Heights, St Andrew, yesterday, following the gruesome discovery of the decomposed body of Shante Skyers, which was found on Tuesday in a section of the community called Blue Hole.

Shante went missing on April 11.

THE WEEKEND STAR also learnt that while residents set upon the deceased, 26-year-old Miguel Williams, his brother made good his escape from the community on foot.

The teen told THE WEEKEND STAR: "Mi kinda a worry yes (about his safety). You know dem say if you can't catch Quaco, you catch him shut."

He said that he was also fearful for his mother, who our news team understands, strongly defends the brothers.

"Mi just nuh want dem do mi mother nothing. Mi nuh feel nuh way bout wah happen today (yesterday) from him do the things dem weh mi hear," he said.

The teen, who seemed composed, chose his words carefully, as he told our news team much of what he heard that his relative allegedly did to Shante.

Member of Parliament for West Rural St Andrew, Juliet Cuthbert-Flynn, who was in the community, told THE WEEKEND STAR that she was fearful that some residents would take matters in their own hands.

Disbelief

Cuthbert-Flynn said: "I'm lost, I didn't sleep last night (Tuesday night). I'm in disbelief. You never want jungle justice because you never know if you're getting the right person. I'm afraid that more will happen because one person ran off so we don't know what will happen."

Yesterday's killing reportedly occurred shortly after 3 p.m.

Report from the Red Hills Square police is that they were summoned to a section of the community called Bulla Level, and upon arrival, one man was found burnt to death.

Our news team was also told that a board dwelling where the deceased man lived was also torched.

A team from Half-Way Tree responded to the blaze and conducted cooling-down operations.

Investigations are ongoing.
