Six-year-old wants to help needy kids

Halle-Star Wilson may just be six years old, but she is already conscious of the suffering and hardships her classmates are experiencing.

She has been using her pocket money to buy snacks for her friends who can't afford to.

"If I follow this child, I won't even have enough to feed her," said her mother, Shanika Henry.

Henry, who lives in Longville Park, Clarendon, is now trying to set up a lemonade stand for her daughter, as she can't ignore her daughter's plea any longer.

"She went on YouTube and saw other kids in America using it to make money and started pestering me to help her do it," Henry said.

Halle-Star eyes brightened as she listened to her mother speaking to CENTRAL STAR, and she was quick to explain why she feels the need to help her schoolmates.

"I hate it when my friends complain that they are hungry. And I cried when I saw the images of children suffering in Africa. I want to help," she said.

Halle-Star said that she is excited about the lemonade stand her mother is planning to build for her, as she is eager to make money which she intends to donate to needy kids.

Henry said that she has doubts about the sales, but she still wants to assist Halle-Star.

"Maybe this way she will get to help without denying herself," said Henry.

Henry also boasted that Halle-Star has always been mature for her age. She said that her daughter was pulled from basic school at age five to attend the Free Town Primary School, where she is now doing well. And although she is only a child, she is certain she wants to become a pilot.
