If you are planning on visiting Daniel Town in Trelawny, ensure that you wear proper footwear as it may well save you a trip to the doctor. The community has been plagued with bad roads for years, and according to the residents, they are at their wits' end. Among those that are feeling it the most are the taxi drivers, one of whom said that pedestrians are at risk each time they travel at nights.

"Is donkey years now the roads look like this, and to know that there are a lot of churches and even a school here make it looks even worse. If you don't walk good, you will easily break a leg. A lot of people don't come out at nights because when you reach the dark places, you stand a chance of hurting yourself," a driver, who gave his name as Sparrow, said.

Another driver told The STAR that he constantly has to fix his vehicle because of the bad roads.

"I have to fix my car every minute because a the road. Nuff time mi seh mi nah run that route and right now me a think about to stop seriously, but somebody have to take the children to school. Is a whole heap a gas it take, because what could take five minutes sometimes all take 20.

"A summer now and the place hot and when you look on the children dem foot, it white because some part a the road nuh asphalt, so the breeze just blow and dirty dem up. Dem dirty before them reach school," he said.

The taxi men said they are imploring the relevant authorities to do whatever is necessary to repair the roads, as very soon they may withdraw their services from that route.

"Very soon, a bare private car a guh drive up here if the road no lift. There are a lot of big houses up here, and sometimes people will try do a little thing and fix it, but the residents dem a nuh professional, so after a while it a go mash up back.

We just waah the Government pay we little mind over here so, because no crime nah gwan here so or anything. A just road we want," he said.
