A Montego Bay woman got the shock of her life last Wednesday after she stumbled upon an ‘obeah paper’ that contained instructions about how to mash up her life and her business.

After reading what was on the paper, the woman, Zoey, said she was left traumatised. She now wants to sell the business which she loved so dearly.

The ‘obeah paper’ contained a list of instructions written under the title ‘boss’.

“Buy one cucumber, parchment paper, red ink pen, three new nails, runaway oil, one black candle, write her name on parchment paper with red marker, dig out cucumber belly, put the parchment paper in, throw oil in it, rub up the oil all over it, write her name all over it, with what bad you want to happen to her for her to run left business and mash up her life. Put the three nail in the cucumber and wrap it up in foil paper, then in black plastic and put it in your freezer,” the instructions read.

Zoey operates a boutique on Barnett Street in the town and has been in business for more than 25 years.

LACK OF ENTHUSIASM

She said it was the first time she was experiencing anything like this. She believes the obeah plot explains her lack of enthusiasm towards her business .

“I don’t feel good as how I used to feel in my store again. I used to be a happy person, jovial with customers. But now when customers come in here mi wah sleep. Mi nuh happy, mi nah stay inna mi store, every day mi lock up mi store fi all three weeks straight,” she told THE STAR.

Zoey said that the obeah letter was discovered by one of her employees who was cleaning out a refrigerator.

“While she was there packing up the stuff in individual bags, that piece of paper fell out, and was on the ground, and a little vial was wrapped in the paper,” she added.

Shaken by the ordeal, Zoey is preparing to sell the business that she has invested her life in.

She said that she thought of selling it before the ‘obeah paper’ was discovered, and now with the frightening find, she definitely intends to call it a day.

“I’ve been buying stock. Supposed yuh see mi beautiful store. Mi store have everything, my stuff is different from everybody else. Even if mi never believe, when mi read dem something ya, even if yuh did a seh a yuh mind a mek yuh nuh wah do this business no more, it just come een like it just come down pan mi now, like mi a feel it,” she added.
