A Kingston man was murdered by hoodlums at his two-year-old daughter's school gate along Nelson Road yesterday. The man, 27-year-old Oral Grey, lived in the Greenwich Farm area of the city.

"Him carry di baby go school. Me hear seh him park di car and five man run him dung and just fire bare shot," his baby's mother told THE STAR.

The grieving woman said that Grey, who operated a taxi, was dropping off his daughter and other children.

"Me normally go wid him a morning time but me neva go this morning because the baby did late, so me jus tell him fi gwan wid di baby," she said as tears flowed down her face.

The incident took place sometime after 8 o' clock.

"Nothing like this has ever happened before," a teacher told THE STAR. "There were a few children and they were frightened. We had two classes, two kids that were frightened. One thought it was her mother, the other thought it was the father. A part from that, the teachers were alert and up to the task given to them. So as you notice, the classroom doors are closed and teachers are inside with the students, making sure that they're okay," she said.

Up to press time yesterday, the police had not ascertained a motive for the killing. However, some residents opined that it may be linked to an ongoing gang feud.

"Is a man weh usually carry him daughter come school inaa di morning. Dem man yah nuh really inna di war, enuh, but him have family weh inna the war, so dem just lay wait him," said one resident.
