Man charged with sexually assaulting stepdaughter
A 28-year-old St James man who allegedly sexually assaulted his 13-year-old stepdaughter at their home more than a week ago was arrested and charged with grevious sexual assault and sexual touching on Tuesday.
The police confirmed that one man was locked up in connection with the incident, but failed to comment much further.
Reports are that shortly after 9 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, the child was left at home with her stepfather by her mother, who was out of town on business.
It is alleged that while the child was asleep inside her room, the accused went to her room and sexually assaulted her.
The following morning the child reported the incident to a female relative, who travelled to the child's school and reported the incident to the guidance counsellor, who in turn brought it to the attention of the mother.
The mother then went to the police.
