The Falmouth Infirmary recently received a $163,000 donation by Falmouth businessman Clint Rennie.

"I held my birthday party on March 8 at Burwood Beach. It was promoted as 'part proceeds in aid of the infirmary'. The municipality welcomed my decision," he said.

The businessman, who operates a bar, restaurant and jerk centre, said he experienced headaches coming to the staging of the party.

Rennie, who plans to adopt the infirmary and name a charity for the institution in the name of his brother Derrick Ellis, thanked the patrons for their support.

"At midnight, I took to the stage with a box and invited patrons to donate to the infirmary. In 10 minutes, I collected the amount donated," he said.

Matron of the infirmary, Tracey- Ann McGlashan, expressed her gratitude.

"I am very appreciative of this donation. It will help to purchase well-needed equipment which will aid in the kind of care we give to those within the institution," she said.
