Teen facing gun charges
A teenager who was allegedly among a group of men who fired shots at a police team on Portland Avenue, Riverton Meadows, Kingston 11, on Monday, July 27, has been charged by the St Andrew South police.
He has been identified as 19-year-old Rojan Wallace, otherwise called 'Martin', of Riverton Meadows.
Reports from the Hunts Bay police are that a police team was responding to an assignment in the area when a group of men fired shots at them. One of the alleged shooters, 23-year-old Romaine Cunningham, of Riverton Meadows, was shot and killed during the confrontation and a Smith and Wesson 9mm loaded with a magazine containing two 9mm rounds of ammunition was seized. Wallace, who was also shot and injured, was taken to hospital for treatment.
He was later released into police custody where he was interviewed in the presence of his attorney and charged after he was pointed out in an identification parade.
A court date is being arranged for him to answer to the charges of shooting with intent, illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
