Truck crushes man to death

The St Ann's Bay traffic police are investigating the death of a man who was killed after a truck ran over his head in Steer Town in St Ann.

The dead man remained unidentified up to press time Wednesday evening. Reports are that about 6:30 a.m., the man hopped on to a moving truck by the driver's door.

Information reaching our news team is that the now-deceased man engaged the driver in conversation, before he fell off the truck. His head was reportedly crushed.

Since the start of the year, a total of 258 persons have been killed in fatal crashes, according to the National Road Safety Council.

Pedestrians account for 21 per cent of the road users killed since the start of the year.

Senior superintendent of police in charge of the St Ann Division, Calvin Small, could not be reached for comment. However, the Corporate Communications Unit confirmed the incident.
