Campbell under fire for comments on Fearon, mental health
People’s National Party debater Dr Dayton Campbell is under fire for mentioning the death of Jodian Fearon as well as appearing to joke about the issue of mental health in Tuesday night's social debate.
The first-time mom died at The University Hospital of the West Indies after giving birth earlier this year under controversial circumstances.
“It is rather unfortunate and at some time during the proceeding, he should apologise to the family,” Tufton said as he rebuffed Campbell.
Social media users were further incensed by Campbell when, picking up from Tufton, mentioning that one in four people suffered from mental illness, said, “even in this room, that is so. Clearly not on this side though” as he glanced over to the debaters representing the Jamaica Labour Party.
Social media users began calling for him to be substituted from the panel, stating that his comments were "vile" and "disgusting".
