UK removes Jamaica from travel corridor list

August 27, 2020

Jamaica has been removed from the United Kingdom's travel corridor list, meaning persons arriving in the UK from the island, will have to quarantine for two weeks, effective Saturday, August 29.

A report in The Guardian revealed that Jamaica was taken off the safe list amid rising COVID-19 infection rates.

The UK's foreign office also updated its travel advisory, advising against all non-essential travel to Jamaica.

The changes to the UK's travel corridor will come in effect on Saturday, and the transport secretary has warned, that quarantining on arrival from countries not on the corridor list is a legal requirement, with rule breakers facing a risk of being fined, and receiving a criminal record.

Switzerland and the Czech Republic were also removed from the travel corridor list, while Cuba is expected to be added to the list.
