Eight more COVID-19 deaths recorded, tally now 88

Jamaica on Friday recorded eight additional COVID-19 deaths, moving the tally to 88.

The country also recorded 131 new infections with ages ranging from 3 years to 95 years, increasing the overall figure to 5,854 cases with 4,058 of them being active.

Eighty of the new cases are men with the other fifty-one being females.

Meanwhile, 128 more persons have recovered, increasing the tally to 1,624

Some 135 persons are in hospital with 25 of them being moderately ill and six critically ill.

The new fatalities are:

  • 92-year-old female of a Kingston & St. Andrew address
  •  48-year-old male of a Manchester address
  •  52-year-old female of a Kingston & St. Andrew address
  • 60-year-old female of a Kingston & St. Andrew address
  • 72-year-old male of a Kingston & St. Andrew address
  •  58-year-old male of a Kingston & St. Andrew address
  •  22-year-old male of a St. Catherine address
  •  44-year-old male of a Kingston & St. Andrew address

The Ministry of Health said seven of the eight deceased also suffered from comorbidities.
