Disgusted and heartbroken by the actions of lowlives who stole a goat belonging to four-year-old Dominic Groves in Malvern, St Elizabeth, persons of goodwill have tried to bring joy to the youngster.

Nicholas Groves, the boy's father, said that several persons have reached out to him with various offers following the publication of the gut-wrenching story in THE STAR late last month.

"As a father, I'm truly happy to know that good people still exist ... it makes a difference that someone is willing to give from the kindness of their heart," the elder Groves told THE WEEKEND STAR.

Robbers last month made off with Dominic's ram, which was given to him a year ago. Dominic, according to his father, had developed quite a bond with the animal that he used to wake up and feed from as early as 5 a.m.

The elder Groves said persons have offered to get Dominic a new pet after seeing how gutted he was.

"This gentleman from overseas sent some money to buy a goat for him so my father is working on that," he said. Other persons have offered to give young Dominic goats.

"This guy who works at Hi-Pro has one for him as well but I have to pick it up at a later date because of the rain and mud on the road, and I don't want to be out driving," said Groves.

Senator Damion Crawford has offered to give Dominic two goats from his farm in St Mary. The handover was scheduled for last week but was postponed due to the rains.

"I will reconfirm a date after the rain because I want to encourage the young man to find independence through agriculture from a young age," said Crawford.

"Two goats can send him through school, if properly managed well, and can help with his books and back-to-school expenses."
