The police's Corporate Communications Unit has confirmed that a suspect has been held in relation to the January 21 murder of 43-year-old Canadian Latoya Alcindor, whose body was found in Runaway Bay, St Ann.

The suspect was held by police in Trelawny early yesterday and was said to have been transported to St Ann for further questioning.

Reports are that Alcindor was found in a room at an apartment complex with stab wounds. Occupants had smelled a foul odour and alerted the police.

A tearful Tashia Antoine, Alcindor's godsister, said her faith has been restored in the work of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

"I appreciate everything that is being done because everybody is so overwhelmed. I'm happy to know that the officers are doing something because I wasn't sure if they were working on it," she told THE STAR.
