806 new COVID cases, seven deaths

Jamaica on Sunday recorded 806 positive COVID-19 results from a sample of 2,055 tests, pushing total confirmed cases over the 31,000 mark at 31,305 with 15,325 active. 

Of the new cases, 366 are males and 440 are females, with ages ranging from 42 days to 98 years.

St Catherine recorded the most new cases with 205, followed by Kingston and St Andrew with 150 and Clarendon with 70, St Elizabeth 69, and St Ann with 64.

Westmoreland with five, was the only parish to record single digit new infections.

In the meantime, there were 114 more recoveries, increasing the total to 15,253.

The number of persons in hosptials remains at 366, with 32 being moderately and 35 critically ill.

Meanwhile, seven more Jamaicans have died from the virus increasing the death tally to 492.

The deceased are:

- a 79-year-old male from Kingston and St. Andrew

- an 83-year-old female from St. Ann

- an 88-year-old female from St. Mary

- a 96-year-old female from St. James

- a 62-year-old male from St. Catherine

- a 68-year-old male from St. Catherine

- a 68-year-old male from St. Catherine

According to the Ministry of Health, only two persons are in government quarantine, while 21,406 are quarantined at home.
