Brand new Jamaican Clarks pon foot, Clarks releases Jamaican inspired collection
If Jamaica had a national shoe it would definitely be Clarks. A signature shoe style for Jamaican men, Clarks Originals have been revered in many a dancehall songs, and have even become a staple shoe for Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
Clarks and Jamaica date back to the early 60s, and on Tuesday Clarks announced a special collection inspired by Jamaica.
According to Clarks, since they first hit the streets of Kingston, their shoes have occupied a special place in the Jamaican culture, and to celebrate this connection they have crafted a limited-edition collection which reworks three of their most iconic styles.
Dubbed the Jamaica Trek, the Jamaica Bee and the Desert Jamaica, Clarks has incorporated the black, green and gold of the Jamaican flag into their signature Bank Robber, Wallabee and Desert boots to create the collection.
The United Kingdom shoe brand has also pledged to continue to give back to the Jamaican community, as in August 2020, through a partnership with Jamaican born Manchester City striker Raheem Sterling, thousands of pairs of shoes were gifted to students attending Sterling's alma mater, Maverley Primary and Infant School.
Clarks has also been working closely with Jamaican Grammy-winning sensation Koffee through her non-profit organisation Families Rule/MLT, a charity focusing on youth empowerment through training, mentorships and scholarships.
