Nine more Jamaicans die from COVID, 391 hospitalised, 673 new cases

Nine more Jamaicans have lost their lives as a result of COVID-19 increasing the death tally to 533.

Six of the deceased are from Kingston and St Andrew, four males aged 81, 72, 61 and 31, and two females aged 82 and 75. The other deceased include: a 90-year-old female from St. Thomas, a 69-year-old male from St. James, and a 62-year-old female from Trelawny.

Meanwhile, confirmed COVID-19 cases in Jamaica are now over 35,000, as the country recorded 673 positive results from the 1,610 samples tested in the last 24 hours, pushing total cases to 35,388 with 18,436 active.

Of the new cases, 290 are males and 383 are females, with ages ranging from 10 days to 108 years.

Kingston and St Andrew recorded the most new cases with 176, followed by St Catherine with 126, St Elizabeth 56, St James 54 and Clarendon with 50. 

Hanover with 13, and St Thomas 14, were the parishes with the least amount of new infections.

Some 391 patients are hospitalised with 43 being moderately ill and 33 critical.

In the meantime, there were 191 more recoveries, bringing that total to 16,130.

According to the Ministry of Health, no one is in government quarantine, however, 24,254 are quarantined at home.
