11 more Jamaicans dead from COVID as 330 new infections reported

Eleven more Jamaicans have died as a result of COVID-19 increashing the death tally to 557. 

The deaths occured between the period of March 4 - 24 and include four persons from St Catherine, two men aged 55 and 48, and two women aged 68 and 42. 

The other deceased are: three persons from Kingston and St Andrew, a 93 year old woman, and two men aged 77 and 70, an 83-year-old Hanover woman, a 39-year-old man from Westmoreland, and a 57-year-old woman also frm Westmoreland whose death was previously under investiagtion.

Meanwhile, of the 1,022 samples tested for COVID-19 in Jamaica in the last 24 hours, 330 returned positive results for a total of 37,458 with 19,795 active.

Of the new cases, 147 are males and 183 are females, with ages ranging from 29 days to 99 years.

St Catherine recorded the most new cases with 103, followed by Kingston and St Andrew with 99.

St Thomas with two, Hanover four, St Elizabeth six, and Portland with seven were the parishes with the least number of new infections.

Some 443 patients are hospitalised, with 40 patients moderately ill and 46 critical.

In the meantime, there were 109 more recoveries, bringing that total to 16,848.

According to the Ministry of Health, seven person is in government quarantine, however, 23,635 are quarantined at home.
