Tommy Lee could be in more trouble - Gun found in his possession linked to two murders

Dancehall recording artiste Tommy Lee Sparta may have to face the court again, after it was confirmed that the gun taken from the entertainer last December is connected with two murders and three incidents of shooting in the Corporate Area.

Dennis Brooks, communications strategist at the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), said "As part of any investigation of this nature, the firearm would have been subjected to various scientific tests and the results of those tests have conclusively proved that the gun was connected with these other violent crimes."

The information the JCF has now gained, significantly aids in ongoing investigations into those murders and shooting incidents, he said.

"As a result, investigations now continue into these matters and the nation will be informed as to the results of those in due course. Whether or not that has any bearing on him [Tommy Lee Sparta] we will see," Brooks said. The news arrives only two weeks after the entertainer, given name Leroy Russell, received a three-year sentence after pleading guilty to illegal possession of firearm and ammunition. He could have received up to 15 years. Tommy Lee Sparta's legal team addressed the news reports that their client could face additional charges.

Other potential charge

"The police have not indicated anything formally to us in relation to any other potential charge," attorney-at-law Donahue Martin told THE STAR. He also shared that a ballistic report was previously served on the plea and case management date, however, no new information has been presented to them.

Martin said their client pleaded guilty to possession of the firearm on the day he was detained and that he strongly denies any involvement in any murder or shooting.

"If those information [charges] are brought against us we will defend them vigorously," Martin said.
